Introduction - My name is Mrs. Lemos and I am very excited to be teaching the students at Central Elementary. I have been teaching since 2007. I received my degree and teaching credential from Chapman University. I previously worked as an insurance agent before getting into the teaching field. I enjoy spending time with my family and watching my children play sports.
I have listed a few items below regarding homework and behavior. I am thrilled to be able to teach your child and I am looking forward to a great year! Please feel free to contact me at school. The best time to reach me is between the hours of 2:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m. My extension is 2221
Homework – This will come home in a red folder and should be completed on a daily basis and brought to school everyday. All homework folders are to be turned in on Friday. If homework is not completed or not turned in, the student will not be able to attend Snack Shack on Friday. In addition to the homework that is sent home, students are to read for at least 20 minutes a day. If a reading passage is not sent home with your child, they should read something from home or their library book. I provided the students with a reading log that I will check on Fridays to make sure they are reading. Please ask your student for this so that you may sign it. Students should also put their notes from school in these folders to take home to you. Please try to check these folders daily for important announcements and to make sure they are completing their homework.
Conduct – Students are expected to behave appropriately at school. We have a card system in class that includes consequences for inappropriate behavior. Green indicates a good day. Yellow is the loss of 5 minutes of recess. Red is the loss of 10 minutes of recess and snack shack on Friday. Purple is loss of recess and extra activities for the week, a phone call home and a visit with the principal.
Rewards – Often times, students may be rewarded randomly with “Good Guy” tickets. When they earn 5 tickets, they may buy something from my private treasure box. I also have a class reward system in place. Their goal is to fill a jar with marbles in order to receive a special treat, such as an ice cream or pizza party. They can earn marbles by making good choices as a class and when everyone works together to make class time more productive. Attendance is very important. Therefore, five marbles are put in the jar every day that we have perfect attendance.
Home and School Connection – Please take the time to talk to your child about what they are learning at school and ask them how their day went. Being able to communicate to you what they are learning and what they may be struggling with will help us all have a better and more successful year. Together, we can help your child be best that they can be!
