Mrs. Wheeler - Grade 6-8 Math

Hello My Name Is...

Mrs. Wheeler

My name is Marla Wheeler and I am the 6th-8th grade math teacher at Central Union Elementary. I grew up in Lemoore and went to Lemoore schools including Akers, Lemoore Elementary School District and Lemoore High School where I eventually graduated.  I then attended Fresno State where I graduated and then attended Fresno Pacific University to obtain my Masters Degree in Math Education. This is currently my 15th year of teaching (12 of them in math).  I have worked at Hanford Elementary, Avenal, Coalinga High, Liberty Middle and this is my second year at Central.
I have a wonderful class of 6th-8th graders this year and we are a very busy group. Our schedule will include mathematics of many types and hopefully as the year progresses we will be able to incorporate STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) activities.  My classroom is full of positive reinforcement, is about making mistakes because that is when we are learning best, cooperative learning, modeling our thinking, being able to explain our maths and using meaningful real world projects used in our classroom to keep student engaged and active. Please come by and see all of the great activities we are accomplishing every day!
